What makes a character strong?

Should the jobs be increased, or are they more for the skills?

Should you increase the limit breaks or awaken the character?

What is the best way to make it stronger and what should be focused on.

Job levels increase stats.
Limit break and awaken use completely different things, if you are worried about what to spend energy on do 10/10 shard quests before you do daily dungeons for awaken mats. Also remember that double drop days are a thing and that you can farm awaken mats in multi for no energy when someone else is hosting.

Limit break and awakening incrases the max level of your unit, meaning it's indirectly help your unit get higher stats.

Regarding to stats, you can raise them by:

・Leveling up
・Raising JobLv
・Unlocking yellow panels (stats bonus) on ability board
・Equiping an weapon, armor, and accessory
・Equiping Esper and Vision Card
